The Centre for Community Child Health (CCCH) has had a long-standing relationship with By Five, beginning in 2017 when the Centre served as the initiative’s coordinating body. In the early phases, CCCH provided backbone support, evaluation and strategic guidance. Over time, By Five transitioned to being fully led within the Wimmera region. CCCH’s role in supporting By Five, straddled multiple roles of evaluator, strategic advisor – and more recently – learning partner. This shift reflects a broader commitment to ensuring that rural systems change efforts are driven by those closest to community. For CCCH, it also marked our first experience stepping into the role of a learning partner.

The Unlearning Curve aims to document and share our reflections on being a learning partner — to make our insights visible, deepen our own practice, and offer lessons for others working to navigate systems change in place-based contexts.
