Australasian HITH Paediatric Practice Study

Posted on 2024-12-27 - 01:01 authored by MCRI REDCap ServiceAccount
This project is the first project for the Paediatric HITH (Hospital in the Home) Improvement and Research Network (PHIRN). PHIRN is a newly developed research network comprising clinical researchers from Australasian HITH departments. The network has come together to identify and improve evidence based interventions for patients on HITH.

In this project we will determine HITH service and patient characteristics in paediatric HITHs around Australasia.

The study will take place during a 7-day period, with each participating hospital collecting the same data as follows:
1. Characteristics of the HITH service. Eg. Number of beds, number of staff.
2. Characteristics of patients receiving HITH interventions during the study period. Eg. Underlying diagnosis, type of intervention.
3. Patient/parent experience with HITH via anonymous survey during the study period.

The study outcome will provide:
1. An understanding of how different HITHs are run from a governance perspective.
2. Gaps in provision of HITH and opportunities for advocacy.
3. Baseline data to direct and build future research studies with Paediatric HITH Improvement Research Network (PHIRN).
